Hi guys,

I'm in need of some information that I cannot find elsewhere.

I'm installing a remote start/alarm combo into a camaro, which uses the passkey system, and a mechanical neutral safety switch.

I removed an old remote start system (bulldog, i think) or some really low end p.o.s. system, and while installing the new one I cannot get the thing to remote start. I can physically start the car with the key. But no button pushing works.

I have already used resistors to copy the ohms in the key, and that works fine. (I cut the ignition VATS line, and the car still starts with key)

Now the original alarm was installed by a professional shop, and had four relays in it. 2 running the car locks, and 2 that seemed to be wired together, but for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out what they were used for.

Nothing was connected to the mechanical safety switch, but is that because the orig. alarm was really old, and the new one is more sophisticated?

any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

What is your question?

The neutral safety switch should not be a concern.

Can you put the alarm into and out of valet mode by turning the key on then off then pushing the valet button?

What works so far?

Your car is an automatic, correct?

2 relays are for the locks, 1 relay is for the starter kill, the other...not sure. Would need to see where it was connected.

one of those relays could be a hand made vats bypass. or maybe for the parking lights.
as for the not starting problem, make sure you are not getting 12v constant on the brake input and if you have the hood pin installed make sure that the hood is not open.

does the car crank when you try to remote start it, or does it do nothing at all. do the parking lights flash when press the remote start button? the neutral safety wire needs to be grounded or hooked to a propper neutral safety switch(if you have a manual)

my question really is what am I missing I suppose...

Locks work, domelight, hood pin, trunk, all acc work. I'll have to try the valet mode.

car is an automatic.

The relays I will take a picture of, it makes no sense, there's no ground, they wired together, and 4 12v constants. one out on both relays..

the old alarm was brown wire/white wire. new alarm is nothing like that.

starter kill would be wired as seen in the relay section of this board I presume?

car does nothing at all. key faube works lock and unlock, trunk pop. parking lights flash with all presses on keypad. neutral safety switch is grounded. I'll have to check brake 12v constant, but I pretty sure that's not the problem.

its either the brake wire OR the remote is not programed for remotestart. try to relearn the remote.
