I installed a python 881xp in my sisters 99 Jeep Cherokee. Recently the battery on the remote dies in about a week, week and a half. Anyone know what might be the cause of this?

If it normal for the Rx icon to appear every couple seconds? I know that is how it communicates and checks itself but if is supposed to be that frequent?

Thanks,

Jonathan

No, the continuous update setting is "on". basically, it checks the vehicle's status every two minutes.

Press and hold the "program" button on the pager, and then press the button with the '*'.
that will disable this option.

ok that seamed to turn off the constant recieving. I looked through the install manual and saw nothing about that feature is it in another manula like the remote one?

and when in this mode the remote will still know when the alarm is going off right?

Thanks, Jonathan

Are you putting GOOD, NEW alkaline batteries in the remote?

You'll get about a month out of good batteries.   "Heavy Duty" batteries are carbon and will give you about a week or two.

Ok so I turned off the system checking function and the battery still drained in a week. I know the batteries are good new batteries. I'm hoping for another option other then the remote is poo. if this is the case where is the cheapest place to get the remote? looking for the 479P best I could find via google shopping is about 66 bucks (+ shipping). anyone know of a better place?

Thanks, Jonathan
