hey all...newbie here, sorry if this may be a repeat question but i have searched for awhile now and cannot find the answer:

my wifes car, 2006 nissan altima 2.5 se, had an aftermarket remote starter installed by a local intaller about 3 yrs ago, the business is now out of business, i have determined the model # which is an audiovox as9075a, which uses the oem remotes, i have downloaded the manuals from the audiovox website.

my current problem is:  when i start the car with the remote and then go to drive the car (after inserting the key and shifting from Park to Drive etc.), i cannot get the car to turn off without using the remote to shut the starter off or using the program/valet switch-switching to off then turing off by removing the key...when the remote starter was initially installed there were no issues.

thanks for any help

willie

is there a wire dangling near your brake pedal close to the top of it?

yep found brown with black stripe, looked it up, its for the brake switch...the guy that did this was a real hacker, all he did was twist and tape everything. i am now in the process of soldering and shrink wrapping all the connections.

thanks for the help

i wouldn't go through all the trouble just to shrink wrap your connections and it really isn't practical in a car because you need to cut the wire just to get the shrink on there and then come back with a heat gun. i would still solder the connections but i would just use some good tape like scotch 33+ or something.
