Hello to all, this is my first post so trat me nicely, I have a Renault 5 GT Turbo and it has a Clifford Concept 300 alarm, i have changed the door wiring harness and fitted the remote door opening but have found that if i push the central locking button on the car dash it blows the fuse, can anyone tell me where to wire the cable to, they are set to negative outputs. Thanks.

Howard! Also if you would like him to treat you nicely, please inform him of the year of you vehicle and describe in as much detail as you can, how you have your system set up.

Howard?? It is a 1986 Renault 5 GT Turbo, it is wired as per standard clifford apart from the door locks which is not working so the trigger wires of Grey/Green and Grey/Orange have not been fitted as yet.

The first point to remember is that the lock triggers on the original OEM with the factory switch down by the gear switch were pos. Check your wiring. Why should I treat a the owner of a French car nicely? First understand what the wiring should be doing and test it before connecting. On a serious note what are you actually doing? You said door openers. Do you mean central locking? Are you adding aftermarket actuators with the factory wiring, or are you adding aftermarket actuators, a new relay and retaining the factory switch? In that case it has to be rewired.

It has been fited with the standard central locking system, yes its the central locking, i have fitted the standard central locking kit to the car using factory items and pluged them into the standard factory wiring look ect, as said i can lock the doors with the alarm but if i lock the door or open the doors with the cental locking button on the dash it blows the fuse?

OK, disconnect the alarm wires, which should be pos going and try the switch on it's own. If it still fails, check the wiring for any shorts to earth (ground) and make sure it's the right way round. The other problem might be a trapped cable. If it works with the alarm disconnected, then you have a (polarity) problem between factory wiring and alarm. Since that alarm can be set for auto-lock, why drive yourself mad with the factory switch anyway?

With the alram cables off the switch is fine, with the alarm cable added it blows the fuse, as you say it must be that the switch is switching via a positive conmnection and the alarm is set to negative so when the connection is made via the switch the alarm is to ground hence the short and the fuse blows, would like to have both working incase someone press the switch, as you say oit will drive me made but there are hundreds of Renaults with Clifford alarms fitted running the switch as well so someone must know. Thanks.

Yes but it's a good 12 years since I last worked on one. We've had what 3 Clio models since then? All with neg lock trigger.
