I have a 06 Dodge Charger R/T and i just had the viper 5900 alarm with remote start installed. They used the DLPKKICH3 bypass. Now for some reason my battery is dying and i have to jump start the car from the battery in the trunk because its so dead. Does any one have any ideas on what this could be from?

Thanks in advance!

Is there a starter kill relay installed on the system?  If so, did you connect the coil to a constant 12 volt source?  If so, the relay is staying energized the entire time the alarm is armed.  This will pull about 160 milliamps of current.

Surely the Viper has an internal s/kill relay with green and violet leads for key side and starter side?  I would  do the various battery draw tests.

In most cars, you are to connect the key side of the starter wire to the coil of the relay.  I have no idea if your vehicle has a conventional start wire or if it is data.  If the start wire is some sort of data, they may want to get an Ignition wire.

The "easiest" thing to do is disconnect the alarm and see if the problem goes away.  If it does, have the installer measure the current of the brain and the bypass - if either is defective they can draw too much current.

Another possible issue could be keeping a relay energized whenever the system is armed (as mentioned above by the Idiot).  Any relay that is constantly energized is a battery killer!

Just went to Directechs site, the starter cut IS built in READ my other post or Mr. Pearsons, or as Mr. Idiot said, there might be other relays, e.g. an add on ign immobiliser. Terminal 86 MUST be connected to the 1st. Ignition wire at the key side.

Also there's another weird thing is that when i turn the car off and take the key out, the dash lights and radio stay on for about 5 sec's

So the battery in the back stays fully charged...Did they install an Isolator...? Or is the back-up battery connected directly to the starting battery...? Do as suggested...! And have a shop fully charge battery and then load check the starting battery...Constant draining/recharging kills a lead acid battery...! How long after the alarm was installed did the battery start dying...? What other aftermarket stuff do you have on there?

Good last point Tommy. So what DO you do for a living Mr. I?  I'm guessing you're very into high end amplifiers and circuit design.

Before you start trouble shooting this on your own, bring it back to the place that installed it and let them fix it. If you start taking things apart and it doesn't fix the problem, the shop can very well tell you to take a hike because someone else dabbled in their wiring. If you did the work, then the the first thing I would look at is the ground for the system.
