What is required to bypass the sentry key on a 2009 Dodge Caliber? I see you can use a CANMAX400 with a XKEYCHGM, but this all seems over-complicated. Is there a way to do it without these modules? It seems easier to just wire the locks with resistors and then use a TBKV or similar with a key in the box method. Any advice/input? Thanks

I don't know for sure if that module would work or not  to get past the sentry key.....if it does, you would still have to add relays and resistors for the second start, and accessory wire. here

You don't need the XKEYCHGM for this installation. It is type B so it is multiplex. Here's the manual.

I don't carry this module though because of problems with it.

We use the iDatalink module to take care of the multiplex start and a C2 ring for the Sentry bypass. Woeks like a charm and the module is a 3 wire hookup.

Jeff, what module and firmware do you use for the idatalink on the 09 Caliber? Is there a way to look up what module and firmware will work based on vehicle model?

Never mind Jeff, I found the one for the Caliber: ADS-AL CA module with CH3 firmware and C2 ring, which makes it a ADS-AL(DL) CH3. It would still be nice to be able to search by vehicle.

Have you had any problems with the idatalink modules? I have only used one and it gave me problems with an 07 H3.

No problems at all. Just have to make sure that the induction wraps for the C2 ring are enough to transfer the signal from the C2 chip to the Sentry module.

If you go to here https://www.idatalink.com/helpdesk/ you can search by vehicle, firmware or by guide.

Jeff, do you need the C2 ring? I haven't seen the C2 ring, but I never use the rings on the universal key required bypass modules for Chrysler vehicles and I always create my own loop out of telephone wire (Cat5). I noticed there is a connector with three wires that came with the ADS-AL-CA that plugs into the spot where the C2 ring should plug into, and I thought if I could make my own loop like I always do for Chryslers and connect to that three wire connector (only 2 of the wires of course).

I may go take a look at the C2 ring anyway to see what it looks like, but i would assume I could just create my own loop and connect it with the supplied connector.

Thanks

That's what I do with the CAT5 wire as well. I cut the loop on the C2 ring and solder the ends to the CAT5 wire and works like a charm. I've been taking  the Sentry module off completely and wrapping the CAT5 wire on the inside of the ring for better induction.

That's exactly how I have been installing them too, otherwise there is really no good place to wrap the wire without taking off the sentry module. I still haven't had a chance to look at the C2 ring. I would think I could just use two of three wires on the three wire blue connector which is where the manual says the C2 ring gets plugged in. Do you know off hand which two pins the C2 ring uses?

Thanks again.

EDIT:   I figured out the C2 ring question. I just realized the C2 ring comes with the transponder. I thought is was on board.

Anyway, where do you go for 12v+? I can't stand going to the battery. Is there a wire at the top of the fuse block like on the Caravans? Thanks

There is a YELLOW/RED ( or YELLOW ) wire that tests 12 volts in a large gray plug on the driver's kick panel. You can use this wire for both 12 volt leads on your remotestarter. The wire is about 14 gauge in size.
