Real long shot here folks.....

I have been asked by my cousin to look at his 1999/2000 year Rover Mini Cooper (like this) which has been recently rebuilt

Apparently it has an alarm/immobiliser which has been temperamental in the past prior to the rebuild now wont let the car start at all

My problem is that I wont know if the problem is with the hardware (which has gone faulty) or a wire connected wrongly after the recent build

He says he doesnt mind if the alarm is disabled/bypassed somehow as it has been problematic in the past, security isnt a major issue as it is locked in a garage for all but the handful of times he uses it each year

Can anyone help - pointers are good, a diagram would be great!

Thanks in advance!

If it's a factory alarm it's a dealer job, diagnostics etc. If aftermarket, I can put it right or get around the problem if you're in the London area.  I've done loads of alarms on them, they are no problem.  Just seen the picture, if it IS the Lucas made factory unit, you are going to have to find a Rover not BMW service centre, good luck.

Thanks for the pointers Howie, I looked at it today and got it sorted fairly easily, so fingers crossed it`ll stay that way.......
