i have a bulldog deluxe 500 im going to install in my wife's KIA sedona ex. i also have an xpress xk01 with the kiadl 4.0 firmware on it. i think i have all understood except one thing. It say the courtesy light circuit will require a rely if it draws over 250ma, this sounds quit low to me but i would love to have this option working. should i wire in a relay or will it be fine the way it is? don't forget its a mini van and has a lot of courtesy lights..
thanks in advance

the unit has a built in relay for the parking light rated at 10 amps. that one should be fine right?

Both audiovox and wiremagic are showing the parklights as a NEG. wire.
Read the manual to see if you can change the parklight wire of the bulldog to a NEG. output.

there is no way of removing the cross member under the crash pad except for cutting the dash on the right hand side? i guess i need to remove this to gain access to the wiring?

there is 2 10mm bolts that hold that bracket in place. They suck to get out but it can be done. I usually take the phillips head screw out of the bottom and pry the panel foward a little then use my 10mm swivel socket to get in there. There even harder to get back in

Good luck

i got another question. with the xk01 firmware kiadl it said to grab the "data wire - brown wire of twisted pair in drivers door harness." kiadl2 says to grab data wire at "bcm, blue wire twisted with red, over blue ringer. i guess i have to grab this one for the power sliders to work? if so does any one know of a hole a can find in the firewall to gain access? also there are two plugs on the side of the bcm which one has the pair im looking for?

Connect to Blue wire (twisted pair with Red wire)
Harness located over a blue ringer and plugged
on left side of BCM<---where do i find this wire???

do they mean under a blue ringer. plug behind fuse panel under hood. not the one mounted to the firewall?

Parking lights:   You defintely want to get them negative trigger, in the harness coming down the steering column.   There is a positive trigger wire at the dash dimmer switch.....but it only lights up the dashboard, not the outside.

If your van has automatic headlights, the negative parking lights will NOT work with the switch left in the Auto position......but you can interrupt the Auto wire with a relay.

Domelight:   The XK01 will already activate the car's domelight when you unlock the doors. However, it will not do this when the van is running under remote start.

If you can live without domelight supervision during remote start, then just leave the Bulldog's domelight output disconnected.

Sliding doors/power tailgate: After your connections are complete, but before putting the car back together, be sure that your Bulldog remote correctly operates the sliders/tailgate BOTH with the remote starter off, and with the car running under remote start.

If the sliders don't work during remote start, post back here for further details. There's a blue ignition wire low in the driver's kick panel, running toward the back of the car, that needs to be interrupted during remote start.....poorly documented by Trilogix, not included in the install guide as should be.

Humm, I wish I could remember exactly. It's been a while, but I'm sure if I had the car in front of me, I'd remember.

I do remember that you don't have to go digging down anywhere, like into the wiring going into the driver's door or anything like that.

It's DEFINITELY in one of those plugs at the BCM/fuse box right in front of you. I just can't remember which one.

It'll definitely be in a twisted pair of wires. Even if you see what you think is the right color, but it's not twisted, it's not going to be it.

Somehow I want to take a guess that it's a plug at either the top right or top left of the BCM. Just a guess there.

I would go about it like this:

Do your bench prep so that the XK01 will of course receive power, ground, ground when running, as well as the lock/unlock/sliders/hatch signals from your remote start.

Make the data wire from the XK01 the LAST connection of your install. Connect the remote start first, completely, including antenna and whatever else......do everything so that it at least does remote start successfully.

Then take what you think is the correct data wire, make a quick temporary connection (don't even worry about solder or tape or whatever), and try to program the XK01.

If the XK01 programs, try the buttons on the remote and see if the locks and all that work.

If the XK01 doesn't program, you're on the wrong wire.

i should find the twisted pair in one of the BCM plugs on the fuse panel in the car(IPM) correct?

Yes. I don't want to promise 100% because it's been a while.

But I remember for sure, that it's not buried anywhere crazy, you don't have to dig too hard to find it at any rate.

I just don't want to promise and be mistaken......but yes, just look in the wiring for those plugs coming out of the BCM/fuse box.

Is there anywhere else to grab the brake switch, its pretty far back and I'm a big guy don't think I'm going to get that one there.
