Has any one else noticed the drop off in alarm sales and installations in the last year. We still see breakins, not they will put in a new deck but not an alarm. Yes, most newer car come with alarms, and alarms haven't changed in years, but their must be other reasons, or is it just us?

I'm far away from you but, during the first quarter or so of the year things were really slow, but sales have really picked up after that period, with the economy worsening and the cost of living on the rise we see more cars being broken in to and being stolen, so hence people are responding by beefing their car security, seeing people heartbroken about their vandalised cars is sad yes, but if you're looking at it from the view of an installer struggling to make ends meet, well the rest is understood................................. ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

On that point of most new gen cars coming with alarms, that's also a major installer problem, it's been quite a while the new gen toyota corolla, lancer, m3 and m6 along with others i can't quite recall have been released and haven't touched them as yet! why, they have either factory or dealer fitted systems that the customers trust to be better that our aftermarket systems! ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

t&t, you said it all, you know my views on this, I've had my worst ever trading year, there's no info on all the latest cars, in all honestly some people don't even know there's an alarm in the car and needing to earn money sometimes overwhelms tell the truth, look at Directwire UK section, just about everything after 05, the only info is CAN hi and low. Did an 05 Vectra (Opel, same shape as Aura but diff electrics). Couldn't find door contacts, could only lock and unlock back doors!

Hey dont forget to upsell the shock sensor...Most factory alarms do not come w/ that feature...Duuuude...We do a $99 alarm special...Cheapest in town...We are barely at 50% of what are average is......People are broke...so an alarm is not really necessary...So i have a few buddies w/ tire shops...There not doing bad...mechanics...Not so bad either...You need these to go somewhere ...We are in the hood/ghetto...And low-income ppl spend something like 70% of income on entertainment...Not this year though...!

Aren't you in Texas tommy? They also used to say that the poor spend proportionally more on clothes, but again bring on the recession and that's the first thing to suffer.

Factory alarms have 1 BIG problem. They are all installed the same. So every thief out there should know how to disable it/where to go. Some are so good that the alarm won't even go off. With an aftermarket alarm, they have no clue where the brain is. It could be behind the glove box, behind the radio, wherever. Plus most factory alarms don't have shock sensors.
