Hello thank you  for taking the time

i have a honda CRV 2000 and i install a aps997a remoter starter

all my installation came out great the remote works and the doors the only thing i didt hook up is the trunk release

i was told i need a relay to open the trunk is that true or can i use the output of the alarm unit to open the trunk

will the dark green wire go to the trunk pin (blue/black) below

and the output to the trunk release

please advise  thank you

Trunk ReleaseYellow/White (+) Switch
Trunk PinBlue/Black (-) 22 Pin Factory Alarm Connector behind Driver's Kick

Dark Green Wire: (-) Instant Trigger Input

This is the instant on ground trigger input wire. This wire must be connected to the hood and trunk pin

switches previously installed.

NOTE: This wire will be shunted when remote control channel 3 is accessed, (trunk release). This wire

will remain shunted all the while there is ground present and for 5 seconds after the ground is removed.

This allows the operator to open the trunk via the remote transmitter without having to first disarm the

alarm system. See below for wiring detail.

Yes...If the output is - off off alarm/remote start (which is normal)...You need to convert it to a + output...Heres a diagram for ya...And from what i get from the info you posted...The Dk. Green wire from the unit is attached to the Blue/Black  -  trunk pin wire...Enabling you to use the trunk pop feature w/o triggering alarm...!

If you have a switch or an alarm or keyless entry that has a negative output that you wish to use to switch a device that requires 12V+ such as a horn, dome light, parking lights, head lights, hatch release, etc., wire a relay as shown below to convert the negative output (trigger) to a positive output.

Here's the same configuration showing a negative output from an alarm or remote keyless entry used to activate a trunk release solenoid that requires 12V+ to release the trunk.

Sorry to throw a spanner in here but our 2000 CRVs have the hatch release in the driver's door,  10amp pos. Since on our versions the door lock control is also in the driver's door it's no problem to pick all up at once. Can't remember the colour but it's a simple switch constant impulse and pos out.
