I am interesting in hooking my Viper 160XV up to my rear defroster in a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant.  I need some help on which wire to hook up.  At the switch there is a WHITE/ black wire that is 0V when the car is off, 12V when the car is turned on, and 0V when the defroster is turned on.  There is also a BLACK/ red wire at the switch that is 0V when the car is off, 0V when the car is turned on, and 12V when the deforster is turned on.  If I need a relay I need help on which wires to put where.  I also need to know how to program the alarm to send the correct signal to turn on the rear defroster (I am not sure whether I need a pulse or latch signal).  I know that it is the blue/white from the alarm that I need to hook up.

Any help is appreciated.

Feed 2nd ignition from R/S and leave defroster on. It will work, I have a 99 Galant.

Well your 99 Galant must be different than mine because everytime I turn my car off, the rear defroster gets shut off and also it is on a timed relay.  I don't quite understand what you are suggesting I do.  Every wire from the R/S is already hooked up.

I finally got it hooked up.  Just incase anybody else is interested I hooked a latched -200mA signal up to the WHITE/ black wire which can be found above the fuse box or at the climate control unit.  When the car is on, there is 12V at this wire, so the point is to ground this wire after the car is started.  I have a viper remote start, so I hooked up the blue/white defogger wire to the WHITE/ black wire above the fuse box.  I programmed the unit to send a -200mA latched signal to this wire 10 seconds after the car is started.  This signal lasts 10 minutes.  As soon as the key is inserted and the brake pedal pressed, the defroster will turn off, allowing the driver to control whether the defroster is on or off.  I also installed a 2 place switch so that I can turn this feature off in the summer time.

Sorry about my comments earlier, it's a different system in the UK model, no climate with the air manually congtrolled. I just leave AC and or rear defog on the night before and on they come with the RS
