i have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 quad cab... i have hooked up a security system by pyle. its the watchdog version.

everything is perfect except i cant for the life of me figure out how to hook my alarm up to the power door locks..

the power door locks work with both switches on teh truck. but ive tried the 3 wire setup, the 5 wire and the revearse polarity... usingt the colour chart from this site.. and the wires in the kick panel.. the 5 wire when hooked up makes the highbeams flash.... the rest just make the replays make a funny buzzing noise and thats it..

no locking action.

the alarm has (-) lock and unlock outputs.   help please!

Ohh dude!! No smartness here, I was really thanking this forum.. I found what I needed, did a search and someone awhile back had the same issue, and I found the diagram I needed! I may have not found it in this thread, but from this site none the less, so I thank you!

Sorry for the confusion!

ok soo..... ive tried almost every diagram i can find with ppl having the same issues with dodge trucks.... i cant get my locks to work at all with any of the wiring diagrams ive tried...

it will lock, but only with the alarm, and not the switches inside... and the unlock turns the highbeams on...

i dont get it at all...

what are the colors of the wires that you connected to in the truck for lock and unlock?  how do you have it wired right now? do you have a digital voltage meter so you can test the wires?  if you want to figure it out, ill help you but you might just want to have a shop look at it.

pink and violet  is one wire and orange and violet or purple is ther other.

and i most recentley had it hooked up via the 5 wire version, ive also tried revearse polarity, also the 3 wire...

none worked......

right now its not hooked up at all.

i dont want a shop to do it, they always cobble the wires up ..

well. are you sure that you have the right wires? did you test them with a meter.  just because you found the right color wires doesn't make them the right wires.

you said they stopped working with the interior switches? if thats the case then more than likely you burned a circuit inside the drivers lock switch.  will the interior lock switches work if you disconnect the wires from the alarm?

when you had it wires for the 3 wire system, what polarity did you have it set for, positive or negative?

im asking all these questions because a few years ago i was working on a dodge dakota and almost the same thing happened to me. the tech sheet i was using wasnt completely right and it told me that the car used reverse polarity locks and in reality it was just positive locks.

i am using the ones that light up the test light when i lock or unlock the truck.. and they just so happen to be the same as the wire chart for the ram.

when hooked up the interior switchs stopp working. unhook and they work fine.

when it was 3 wire, it was positive. as thats what come out of the wires when i lock or unlock.
