need some help?

 hey guys i'm new here so bear with me :)  my normal area is with car stereo, but i'm going to tackle my first alarm install this weekend.  so far it looks pretty but a couple of things confused me.  first the alarm i bought only came with one door pin, do you really need these things and were do you put them in the door?  second my car has no power locks, i was going to order a set of 4 actuators from alpine and just wire them into the control module for my alarm, would this work the way i hope it will or not at all ?  any info you could send my way would be a great help?  thanks----d

Please sit down and read the installation instructions carefully then read the operating instructions carefully. If you do stereos then you should have no problems with the alarm.

The one door pin is for the hood. It tells the alarm if the hood is open. The actuators should work just fine with any alarm. The hardest part is installing the actuators. You might want to use a relay between the alarm and the door locks incase the draw is greater than the alarm can handle.

if the one door pin is for the hood then how will the alarm know if the doors are opened? will it affect anything if i don't install it?  i don't really care if anyone opens the hood, insurance covers it !!! :)

What kind of alarm is this ? The door pin can be hooked up to the hood pin as well as long as the door pin output is a (-) trigger. It really doesn't matter that the alarm can distinguish between the hood & the doors as long as the trigger is there and the alarm recognizes the trigger point. If you don't install it you will loose one of the zones that you want to protect. Just attach both trigger zones on the one wire ( as long as the door trigger from the car is a (-) trigger ).

The doors have factory pins on them already. You only have to locate the wire that runs to the drivers door and connect the alarm door trigger wire to it. In most older cars, that should cover all the door inputs. You need to obtain the wiring diagram for your car and follow the color codes correctly.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

I have just tryed to put in a clifford advent guard 4 in a 98 chevy pick up and the remote start is not working proper it just cranks over and runs for a second and then it shuts off if anyone had any ideas of why thanks?

dude like it has been posted sit and read instructions and who ever posted the things saying you may want to put a relay in between a door lock actuator and a an alard dont listen to him. cuase you need to no matter what it will not work . cuase the way an actuator works is one side has to see possitive and the other see negative so with two relays that is acomplished. just like any other things in a car that is electric it has to see both to work. and if you can is farly new than new like maybe 2000 and above most cars have more than one door trigger wire and you will have to read the section if this is one on how to diode isolate door triggers with out causing feedback.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

o.k. for all u who are asking the car is a 2000 dodge neon--the alarm is an alphaguard a-88.  i think i have everything figured out now, so i'll let yall know how it comes out after this weekend. thanks for all your help -----d
