I've just installed a Viper 5900 RS on my 2006 Camry. I've hooked up the second starter wire seven ways from sunday and still can get it to start without blowing the am1 fuse.

I've used relays, diodes etc etc. Cranks for 1/2 second and blows.

Relay hooked up as per this forum and I have double checked my wiring on the brain.

85 Grnd
86 Pwr from start
30 +ve
87 yel/Blk 2nd start (Start Side)

I've had the 2nd ign powered up on the car side (also blk/yel) and had it not hooked up, and tried diodes too.

Any thoughts?

Pardon my after a 12 hour day stupidity, but what is "the am1 fuse"?

Also.... the start signal (the "pwr from start" your using) where is this signal coming from?

Did you cut the 2nd starter wire in the car? It is very rarely needed that you need to add a starter kill to that wire. The starter should be interrupted just by putting the starter kill on the primary starter wire.

Wire a relay as follows:
86 and 87 - fused (10 or 15 amps is probably fine) constant +12v.
85 - skinny purple (-) starter output of 5900
30 - to second starter wire of car.

Toyota also likes to have different wires in the same location have the same colors. I assume you metered the 2nd starter wire and are using the correct one.
I (as well as most people reading this) are probably confused when you say "Pwr from start".   Rewire your relay as above.

I believe the "am1" fuse is a constant wire in the ignition harness that is fused really low. Somewhere between 5 and 10 amps if I remember correctly. Don't connect to that wire at all. Use just the thicker constant wire in the ignition harness.

My power from start is from the purple starter wire from the brain.

I've checked the second start wire (blk/yel) and it is hot before key in "on" and hot both sides in start.

You are right on the AM1 Fuse 5A and controls most accessories and start functions.

I will rewire and try once more.

JWorm is correct. Make sure you are using the WHITE/ red Constant(30amps) in the ignition harness for all your power requirements. Make sure you are NOT using the white(5amps) constant in the ignition harness for anything.

There is a BLACK / YELLOW second ignition, and BLACK / YELLOW second starter wire. I would connect the 2nd ignition wire to the pink/white output of the remote start, and add on a relay wired as I described above for the second starter. The 2nd starter will only show 'hot' when the key is in the crank position.
