If the  car battery (not the remote battery) dies does the intellikey work??  (Nissan and Infiniti)

I have heard that if the battery goes dead and stays down for a while, the car requires a tow to the dealer to get it back to normal.  I can neither confirm nor deny the factuallity of this problem.

Renaults have had this system for about 5 years, they use a credit card which goes into a slot in the dasboard. There are 2 points about their system:-

1) There's a tiny key in the  card, this inserted in the passenger door handle after undoing a trim which unlocks the car.

2) There's a third battery (the second controls the SRS and alarm) as a back-up.
