Well, I have a 97 toyota camry ce (auto). I bought a prestige aps787a remote start to install. I started the install last night and all went well. A little different than most of the other remote start installs I have done in the past. I have all my wiring done and soldered and I have checked them over like 10times and they are all correct. I can not for the life of me get the car to start with the remote start. It won't crank. The brain box clicks and the parking lights flash 7 times, that is all it does. Someone mentioned that I may need a passkey however my key is all metal and there is no plastic on it for a chip to hide. Please help, I have to get the car back together to go to work in the morning. Also the only other concern I have which isn't a huge deal is that when I unlock the door with the keyfob it will unlock every door not just the 1. Is there a way to fix this?

from what i remember audiovox makes you learn tach before it starts, or change it to tachless...but then again i havent done one of those in 6-7 years

I heard that it doesn't learn the tach on the toyotas. So if I don't use it, do I just leave it disconnected or ground it? from what i remember you had to ground black with a white stripe for neutral safty...they gave you a little toggle in the box yes?

Nope, no toggle at all. It's a push LED.

Where did you find that at? How will it learn the crank if it doesn't even crank? None of my documents say anything like that.

Also remember this is an audiovox not a DEI like everyone else uses.

You probably have the wrong tach wire, you can simply but the unit into "voltage sensing" mode to see if it starts or at least tries to crank. Its in programming bank 3 option 5 "input" change from Tach to voltage sensing.
For the tach you can also use a fuel injector wire. there are usually 2 wires at each injector, one is common on all the injectors. You would want to tap into the other wire that is different from injector to injector. If you do this don't forget to change back to Tach sensing.

Did you read page 19 of your installation manual, it has the diagnostic codes there as well as how to learn the Tach. Maybe you do have the right wire but are not following the steps properly. You have to start the car with the key for it to learn the tach.
1. Turn the ignition key to the On position.
2. Press and release the valet/program push button switch 3 times.
3. Immediately turn the ignition key Off.
4. Press and hold the valet/program push button switch, then start the vehicle using the key.
5. When the unit senses the tach signal, the parking lights will begin to flash.
6. Release the valet/program pushbutton switch. The parking lights will turn on for three seconds to
indicate that the learned tach signal is stored and the unit is out of the tach learn mode.
NOTE: If the unit fails to learn tach rate due to an improper tachometer connection or a poor tach source,
the
parking lights will not flash.
To correct this situation, locate and connect the GREEN/ Orange wire to the proper tach signal, and then
repeat the tach learn routine.

Ok I have to be honest here, at first I was like no way the tach can't be it, why because the guy that does these professionally for my brothers work said they can't learn a toyota tach. Second because my friend that does this "for a living" said to ground it out they cause more issues than they are worth. I figured you guys know what your talking about and it worked like a freaking charm, I can't thank you enough.  Now only if I can get you to come here and put my car back together lol. One final thing, the unlock when pushed unlocks all the doors, how do I get it to unlock the driver door with 1 push and all doors with 2 pushes?

does that unit have a second unlock output wire? im not familiar with it.
