Just installed a Viper 5901 in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with a iDataLink ADS-AL CA. Viper system will not allow me to access the menu so I can program it. Im leaning towards door trigger on this one. The remote works to lock, unlock, trunk release. Siren chirps on lock and unlock, L.E.D. illuminates on these functions as well. When I try to program, its as if the valet switch doesnt work at all. I programmed the iDataLink first and that is working correctly. Im going to test some wires tomorrow and see if I can figure something out. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I don't know the car but three things about Viper programming spring to mind. First make sure the green neg input door contact wire is definately grounded, if the purple pos input was used, you still have to ground the green. Secondly try and get your hands on a bitwriter, you might need to unlock the remotes, thirdly they are a PITA to programme, patience is the key word with this product.
Confirmed its the iDataLink. It wasnt giving the RS a door signal so I couldnt program. I bypassed the signal and programmed the RS.
The RS attempts to start but the starter does not engage. RS only starts with the key in the ignition in the ON position.
I tested the wires on the RS and this is what I got...
Starter key side - 0v All the time (Green RS wire)
Starter car side - 12v on start attempt (purple RS wire)
12v Constant - 12v constant (Red & RED / Black RS wire)
ignition - 12v on start attempt (Pink RS wire)
Accessory - 12v on start attempt (Orange RS wire)
Does this car require 2nd ignition or anything else besides what I have listed?
From what its looking like the iDataLink is not taking care of door status and the Passlock. I tried flashing it with every protocol and still got the same result. Any ideas?
