I'm wanting to install (or have installed) a remote start on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma. There isn't much difference in price between a 5501 remote start and the 5901 remote start with alarm. Is the starter only easier to install, or are they about the same. I checked a dealer who was a viper dealer, and they told me don't buy Viper it's junk, buy AstroStart, they bought out Viper and are high quality. They then ask what I was installing it in, when I said 2008, They said it can't be done on anything that new, there is no wiring information available. I knew that was wrong, as I have already got the info from here on 12volt.
Is there any installers here in Southern Indiana,( Bloomington, Bedford, Seymour, Indianapolis Area) that will install?

Keep away from that shop, they might be right about Viper quality but Viper's parent company owns AstroStart. The R/s alarm combo is always the better bet.

Thanks, Just from talking to the installer for 5 minutes, I realized I already knew more than he did, just from my research here. I wasn't sure on alarm with start, or just start. Everyone seems to recommend the Fortin bypass. I have done a lot of automotive wiring in the past, just not really comfortable with the soldering on small wires.
