Hello, Im a long time reader, but this is my first post. I installed a viper 5901 and xk01 into my 07 silverado classic, Im not a certified installer but im pretty confident in my work. Just dont know if its right. My problem is that after I cleaned up the mess under the dash ( tape, zip ties) and put everything back together I checked to make sure everything worked and it did, alarm, remote start.  Later that day I went to use the RS and and the truck started and then died then the alarm with off.  Didnt think to much just thought tach signal was bad so I reset it and still same thing.  Then a couple days later I went to go to work and my truck was dead, barely turns over.  The only thing i can think of is that I spliced the door trigger into the dome light wire that goes up the driver side A piller. It didnt seam right to me, but thats what I got from a couple wire diagrams. My remote always said my door was open when i locked it because the dome light was on.  So im just looking for some advise from more experienced installers before i go taking everything apart.    Thanks in advance.

Door wire has nothing to do with that problem you're having, dome light has a delay, you have two options, find a wire that sees all doors before the delay control, or program the door chirp error of, that's why dei made it!

you don't need to wire the door trigger to anything.... if you are running D2D it should be happening via data within the module....  the only wire you need to hook up besides the D2D cable is the OBD data wire......

if you wired it W2W then you still only need to hook the green door trigger wire from the 5901 to the Violet/ white wire from the XK01.... this is the door detect via data wire

I dont know whatever is best or easiest anyway. I talked to a best buy installer and he said d2d has never worked for him. Does this mean data to data. and w2w mean hardwiring? Im just looking for expert advice as Im far from a expert rs alarm installer, so if you could let me know whats best for my application I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

the guy you talked to was right, I have had nothing but issues with the D2D port on DEI products including the bypasses

I am sticking with compustar, nustart and idatalink
