The Acura security systems you have to disconnect the security module. You will loose keyless entry functions on this. The security module is found in the driver's dash to the left of the sterring column.

Why dont you use an add on like an Audiovox Prestige AS-9075, the Acuras have pretty good ranges and the install is much easier for the do it yourselfer you dont even have to dissconnect the module as Jeff said rather just hook up the alarm disarm wire (or neg pulse before start) to the blue wire from the sec. module. The module is under the dash to the right of the column. It should click when you lock and unlock the doors with the remotes. Test the blue wire by unlocking the drivers door with the key, the wire should test nothing at rest and neg. when key is used to unlock door. Hope this helps

Why would you want to un-install the factory alarm? I think it could do more harm than good. If the vehicle is equipped w/ a factory system, just make sure to send a negative unlock pulse to the factory disarm wire.

You can leave the OEM security module and pigy back all the necessary wires with the new alarm system. The OEM module is only a passive system that activates when a protected field is actually broken. The aftermarket alarm will be an active system where it has pre-warn and impact capabilities.

awww mann, i already installed the aftermarket alarm, so if i disconnect the factory alarm, i wont be able to use the Prestige for keyless entry?

Also, the main reason i wanted to disconnect the factory alarm was that, it would not unlock for some odd reason....and now that i've installed the Prestige...it still does not unlock, very weird...but the lock/unlock switch still works like normal.

You can leave the OEM security in the vehicle.... it should not affect the Prestige in any way. If your locks are working properly witht he switch but not with the alarm, then there is a wiring issue. What wires do you have connected on the door locks from the Prestige ?

the problem is that the OEM security goes off, so, i just want to disconnect it..i just hooked up the lock/unlock wires from the prestige to the kick panel like the diagram said...it locks, but doesn't unlock, this has happened before i even touched it, even with the factory alarm, is it wise to direct wire to the switch?

Are you sure you grabbef the right UNLOCK wire ? Did the wire you tapped into test (-) when you toggle the PASSENGER side controls ?
