Hello,
I'm planning on installing Austostart AS-2272 remote start onto my 2009 RX 350. Besides the alarm I have also ordered the XPRESSKIT X05 bypass.
The remote that comes with the alarm has 2 buttons, all I need is the start and am not planning on using the 2nd button.
My questions are:
1. Is anything special required to disable the factory alarm during the start? A local installer told me that if he installs the remote-start, I will not be able to use the key remote to unlock the doors while the car is remote-started.
2. I found a wiring diagram here for a 2008 RX350, is it same for 2009? Would anyone be able to provide a DEI diagram, I read somewhere that it's easier to follow.
3. How many relays will I need, including the starter bypass.
4. Any tips/warnings for a newbie?

Thank you in advance for reading all this and taking your time to reply.

1. disarm is a negative to the key sense wire during remote start. on a scale from 1-10 this car is a 7 but is pretty tough for a newbie... i wouldnt say 4-5 hours though.....

Hate to be a smart arse here but I did an RX recently, a Japanese build UK model.  First thing on this one was to abandon the DEI tech sheet which goes on about a relay and diodes in the driver's door. Yes I had to get into the door but the looms pull out from DKP plugs very easily and with astiff puller and some WD it's easy to run your cables. Follow the wiring to the back of the door and you've got low neg lock and unlock, extend the pulse for window close. I just used the chip from a valet key to by-pass and no problems; always seem to have to use thekey sense on Toyota/Lexus, bags of room inside the dash, pull the centre section, under the head unit if I remember. 3 hours and I've never done one before.

Thanks howie, when I read wblakes' reply I panicked a bit. Not giving up yet...

So does this mean that I'll be able to use the key's disarm button?

Is X05 ok for this car? I really don't want to lose a key.

Also, what would an installer charge me if I bring the above components to him? I live in New York City area.

3 hours is definitely more accurate of a time frame. No u won't be able to use the key fob at all when remote started. And an installer will probally charge you more to install if not bought from them. Xk05 should do just fine, be prepared to run wires to ECM/bcm to make it work. Good luck
