I wanted to ask before I made any false promises to my client, but it seems that one of the rfl modules (rflkia2, rflmit3,etc) could be used without the dlpk. It looks like the rfl modules are just a transponder and loop that needs to be connected. My thought was to throw to cut the connector off and throw a relay across it that closes the circuit when ever the remote start is activated. That is all that a 556u or TBXKEY does, so in theory shouldn't this work. Obviously I will have to go through the proper sequence of getting the transponder programed. Does this seem like a sound idea to anyone else?

I have actually been hearing this a lot from installers, but I have yet to try it with a relay.

Just use one end on 87 and the other on 30?

I can confirm that the RFL transponder loops work without the DLPK. I've used the universal RFLUB loop by cutting off the connector and wiring completing the loop by connecting the two wires. The car started up fine.
Have you used the transponder loops with the DLPK? The DLPK I have will not close the transponder loop when starting. I'm wondering if I've got something wired wrong (doubtful as there isn't much to it), or I've just got a bad unit.
