I just installed a viper 5701 on an 09 Toyota Corolla. This thing has been an extreme nightmare! I'm having two issues...First, I have the white wire for parking light output (-) trigger connected to the neg. at headlight switch for the parking lights. I also connected the WHITE/ brown wire to the parking light flash 87A output on the brain, I think pink/brown. What I get is constant parking lights. They will not turn off at all. They do flash however when any comand is made but then continue to stay on. Is this possibly due to the Automatic headlights on the vehicle that you can NOT turn off? I know that as soon as the ignition is turned on all of the lights are on and do not turn off untill key is removed....Secondly, the remote start is not working. It goes through the whole process on going to "run" position, dash lights, all that stuff. It attempts it three times. It never does turn the starter over at all. It also does not flash a code afterwards about why it didn't start. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I know nothing about the 5701 but i can tell you 87a on any relay isn't the proper feed wire. If iit is like a normal relay nothins at all should be connected to it. Did you install a bypass? What kind? If you place the key in the ignition without turning it on does it Rs then? If so you have a bypass issue.... ------------- Mike M2

I used the DEI PKALL immobilizer. I programmed it just like any other one and it registered the key and flashed to LED confirming it was programmed so that shouldn't be an issue. If you stick the key in the ignition it still does not start with the remote. If you put a DMM on the start feed wires it's not sending 12V to both ignition 1 and 2. It's totally has me stumped. I've never had this much trouble with one car before!

the parking light flash 87a is only used when you need to isolate the output from remote starter to the parking lights away from the switch( ala some chryslers/fords)
do you have all the constant hots from the viper unit going to a constant power source?

Update, I was able to get the remote start to perform correctly now. It wasn't sending signal to the Ignition 2 like it was supose to. I was loosing signal on crank. I fixed that and it started right up. I did notice that I don't have my climate control functions. So one of the wires must not be receiving steady current while R/S. The radio and all works but no blower and I still have the same issue with the lights. I am not receiving any parking light flash, lights on while running or anything. I don't know if that has anything to do with the wire for the blower or not since the whole thing with the lights always being on as long as the key is on. Thank you everyone for your very quick replies and I hope we can get this one figured out. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thanks

I have seen this happen on some newer vehicles with auto headlights but if you leave the switch in auto and you are using a neg parking light trigger they don't always work. Make sure that you headlight switch is in the off position and see if the system works then. Are you getting a neg output on your parking light output from the alarm?

The headlight switch doesn't have an "auto" possition, which is really strange to me! It has, off, parking, and headlights. It stays in the "off" possition at all times and as soon as the key is switched to the "on" posstion the headlights come on and don't turn off untill the ignition is turned off. It's not like most systems where it detects light or darkness on auto. It is a very poorly design in my opinion. Yes, I am receiving a neg. output from the alarm for the parking lights. I know that if I get parking lights I will also get headlights, which I can live with. There is no way to just turn on the parking lights, not even using the headlight switch. I can live with having parking and headlights if I can get that and the blower and things to receive current when R/S is active.

connect a relay to run your 2nd starter, then it will crank.

1. Sounds like your parking lights are incorrect.
I've only put in one or two of those newer Vipers, but 87a shouldn't be connected to anything.
If you're using the negative parking light wire at the switch in the steering column, you should be connecting the Viper's white parking light wire (the one with the inline fuseholder), and moving that little jumper on the side of the brain to the negative position.
2. If your blower isn't on........you probably got the remote starter's Accessory wire mixed up with one of the Ignitions (1 or or 2).
Shouldn't be a big deal to switch them around.
Just go back to your ignition wiring, TEST each wire while moving the car's key through its various positions, and again TEST each wire while operating the remote starter.
P.S. The accessory wire doesn't even need to be hooked up if you don't want to. It just controls the radio and power mirrors and such....I rather the radio remain off during remote start but that's up to you.
Regardless, both Ignition 1 and Ignition 2 will want to receive power at all times, including during cranking.
The accessory wire, if connected, should drop power during cranking, although if you were to power up it up as an ignition by accident, it probably wouldn't hurt much of anything.

There is no second starter wire on new Corolla's. There are two starter wires but they are common to each other.... ------------- Mike M2

Just wondering if you did any work on the trunk release and the rear window defrost with your Viper 5701? I have a 2009 Corolla with a Viper 5301 and they are similar in wiring and have been trying to get these items connected to my 5301. The relay wiring is a bit confusing to me and don't want to something wrong.. Thanks Rich

rear window defrost in the corolla doesn't need a relay, just use one of your (-) aux outputs and set it to 8 mins as for the trunk release you need a relay setup for reverse polarity

Hi 05gt, I plan on connecting the Blue/White 2nd Stauts Output from the Remote Start Input, 5-Pin connector for the rear window defroster. Where do I connect this Blue/White wire to in the defrost circuit?? After or before the rear window defrost switch?? Does this feed to a relay that feeds to the rear window defrost grid?? Thanks Rich

just use an aux channel that way you have control of the feature, get the wire right behind the defogger switch
