I purchased a Viper 5301 and XK531 awhile ago for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo i6 (WJ - '99-'04 model). Warmer weather came and the need for remote start wasn't as much desired. Now I need to get it installed to begin enjoying it!

I have done a bunch of research and found a lot of answers, mostly from this forum, but still have  some open issues particular to this unit and car model, before I start the install. I created a Excel spreadsheet listing the wiring harnesses of the Viper, the XK531 and where they need attached to each other or in the Jeep. I would greatly appreciate a review of my work, and some help in figuring out if there are other wires that are not needed (or wires I have marked as needed that really aren't), and help in figuring out wires where I don't list a connection yet.

I don't have any factory security system other than the sentry key... I would like to hook it up so that it controls both the heat in the winter and the a/c in the summer on remote start.

Hopefully it can also be of use to someone else and I haven't found a complete match for what I'm doing so far.

Thanks!

Tom

Very first line is wrong. The ground when running is not the same as ground while armed so it would not go to orange H1/12 but to the RS aux output pin 5, status output.

H 1/11 is the park light wire. I needs to be connected to the parking light wire in the car. In an 02 GC the wire is a resisted value ground. Do a search here for info on that.

In the heavy guage harness all the reds need to go to 12volts in the Jeep harness(RED / black, RED / white, red).

Also, use your flex relay to run the second accessory wire....

Thanks Mike for the great info. I have updated my spreadsheet with all of your comments, and a couple other things I've figured out, and searched out the parking light deal and think I have it figured out (H1/11 white to headlight side of switch (cut yellow wire), H1/4 WHITE/ brown to other side).

Was unsure about your last comment about using the flex relay to run the second accessory wire (I assume you meant the ORANGE / black wire on vehicle) so have not completed that yet.

Getting close. Would appreciate any thoughts and comments to make sure I have everything right *before* I begin!

Thanks,

Tom

In case there are some that can't read Microsoft Excel, but want to view it...I've created a link to where anyone can see. Comments welcome!
