Ok guys I am completely dumbfounded by this thing.

We installed a Viper 5501 in a customers car with an XK05 bypass module.

The customer brought the car in once because it was acting up, we did some tests and concluded the brain had issues and had it sent out to DEI.

DEI sent it back saying it was all fixed, gave it some new firmware and such. We reinstalled it and the customer has been back twice.

The first time it came back the car would start from the remote and run the full cycle. Once it shut off if you tried to R/S it again it would start, run for about 12 seconds, then shut off. Also the radio circuit would not activate, a tell tale sign it was about to shut off.

Now the customer called and complained that its starting intermittently and having all manner of issues. I am at a loss for what to look for, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Outside of it being a bad unit, The ground when running from the r/s unit activates the bypass, so I would check that first.

Would try a 556uw just to save the drama if they have a spare key.

On Toyota, the bypass is only needed during crank. After it starts you can even unplug it and it will run fine so i doubt this is a problem...
