First of all I would like to say this is a great forum. I need some tech knowledge for wiring an aftermarket wiper delay control into my wifes 94' Honda Passport. This vehicle has switches of high, low, off, squirter & mist. Instead of hitting the mist button every 15 sec. (pita) I want to install this 2-20 sec. interval controler. Here's the problem--I dont have the instructions for it ! The box has a part # of 85553 & I have searched till my eyes bled. It has 5 wires being red, blk, blu, grn, & wht. Thanks in advance---Proflow

I looked aroung Google and also didn't find anything.
There weren't too many companies that made those things. I know J.C. Whitney at least used to sell them...... try contacting them, you never know.
I never installed one, but I could take a guess at the wires.
Black is probably ground.
Red is probably power input....I would guess ignition power, so it only works when the key is on.
So now you only have three wires left.
Again, just guessing here.....
Probably, you find the low-speed wiper wire in the car, cut it in half, and connect the two halves to two of the wires from the controller.
And probably the third wire gets connected to the high-speed wiper wire in the car.
Again, these are all just guesses, but I think it would go like this:
--When the system "sees" that the high-speed wipers are on, it disables itself.
--When the "input" side of the low-speed wire is triggered (as in, when you turn your wipers on), the system "knows" that you've activated the system.
--Depending on where you position the control know, the "output" side of the controller's low-speed wire puts out power at intervals, or even puts out power constantly if you turn the intermittent system off.
Do you have a multimeter, or at least a test light, and the ability to use it, as well as some spare time?
I'd start by connecting the red and black, either to a power supply or to the car's battery if you must.
Then start applying positive power to one of the three remaining wires, while testing the other two to see what they do.
The worst you can do is end up damaging the device, and you might as well take a chance since you don't have the instructions anyway.

Don't want to throw a spanner in here but my old Integra and I think Prelude both had NEGATIVE switching at the wiper switch.

Thanks for the input , I did try JC.Whitney without luck. Also I e-mailed the company on the box & they responded with no help due to the fact they havn't sold that item for a long time. I'll test the unit on my jump box w/multimeter & see what does what. Good point about they neg. switching as I did find that to be the case in this vehicle when doing an auto start alarm. Thanks again folks, I'll keep ya posted when I figure out who is who in the zoo----Proflow

OK, I got it figured out. We all know blk. & red, I found by powering up the wht. (accy) the blue is hot when on & the grn. is hot when off. So tomorrow I'll probe the wiper switches & see what's going on there. Thanks for the tip on powering up one & checking the others. Believe it or not---I got it first try ! Doubt that'll happen again . OK, I know this isn't a 12v question & hopefully I dont get kicked for asking, but for another anoying thing I wish to tackle is the damn tv ramping up in vollume when HD isn't produced. Such as almost anytime a comercial comes on. Any one know how to make a smart sound box ? I know I'm not the only one here with this deal ! Dish w/HD DVR HDMI to 1080-I TV Thanks again All----Proflow
