I have installed remote starters on a few vehicles now and am always extra cautious in doing research before hand.  I am currently going to attempt to install a remote start on my own vehicle 2006 Toyota Rav4(V6).  I had previously installed a viper car alarm about a year ago - works fantastic and I would hate to get rid of.  The remote start I have purchased is a prostart with door lock control.  I have gotten all of the wiring information, purchased the bypass needed, prepared for relays for 2nd ignition and 2nd starter, etc.  I am wondering if there is some way to wire the starter such that it would control the alarm.  There are arm/disarm pulse wires available on the remote start - the manual indicates a disarm pulse is sent 500ms prior to attempting start and on pressing the unlock, and an arm pulse is sent on pressing the lock button.  Is there some way to connect this into the viper alarm such that it would disable the alarm on starting?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

No, you wont be able to control the alarm via the remote start. You've gone the wrong way round.  It would have been easier to buy the add-on Valet 561T which is controlled by the Viper. It will save you lots of problems.

Thanks Howie, I had no idea this was out there.  It's pretty easy for me to return the car starter and order one of these.  I assume I will still need the bypass kit - xpresskit pkall.  Will this work with the 561t?  Thanks again.

Yes, if you have a factory transponder immobiliser. If you're not sure, remove steering column cowlng and see if there's a black plastic "antenna" ring around the ignition switch barrel with prob 2 wires coming off it. I assume no factory alarm, other wise you'll have to actuate the keysense wire.

Thanks again Howie.  Is there a good place on the web to order this from - I am in Canada.

Thanks

Dunno, I'm in the UK, try DEI Canada or DEI USA?

ath easiest way to tell if it needs a bypass is to look for a factory security light to the left of the heat controls just under the air vent.
