Hi my name is Gus and I am new to the forum. I have had my 5901 installed in my Ford F250 by a local car alarm company and have some questions.
My tilt sensor does not say "tilt" on my keypad when it triggers. The alarm company had to hook it to "trunk" since i have a glass break installed. Does this make sense? He said the 5901s only allow for 1 extra module to be installed to a dedicated port.
When I remote start in the morning when it is cold outside my tilt sensor triggers. My alarm company said the tilt cannot be disabled like it should be on remote start since only the glass break is using the only add on port.
Turbo timer does not automatically kick on when i turn the vehicle off. I must press the function key twice and then press remote start before i leave the vehicle. Any ideas here?
The defrost option is not enabled. If i press the function key 4 times and then press remote start (remote start must be enabled) the defrost feature says not enabled. Is this option simply enabled by the bit writer?

1. Most companies won't install rear defrost for you. You have to pay extra labor to hook it up. Usually something minimal like $20-40.
2.The tilt sensor issue depends if it is just a ball bearing switch or the actual "Tilt sensor from directed". If it is ball bearing, then it works but shows up as trunk instead of tilt. If it the actual tilt sensor, then they need to connect in in parallel with the glass break sensor and diode isolate it. (IMO glass break sensor is worthless. I would rather go with an external shock sensor).
3. For the turbo timer they didn't program it. Menu 3 option 6 and you can choose from 1, 3, and 10 minutes.

I did see the tech enable the turbo timer option and we set it to 3 minutes. The problem is i need to press buttons on the remote before i remove the key from the ignition. Anyway to have it automatically come on for 3 minutes when i remove the key?

Last question first, NO. Throw away the tilt, I agree with yimke but would go further, in fact I always get out of selling tilt sensors and spend a lot of time disconecting them from other people's systems! Personally I would have gone for a dual-zone prox and possibly a shock. With DEI product here I'm sure the tilt comes with a Y loom for shock and tilt. Even without the correct way would have been to join the leads together, it shows how to with the install sheet that comes with the product. Not connect it to trunk. On a safety note never run a turbo timer for more than 11/2 mins. You will do more damage.

I don't believe the turbo timers kick in like regualr timers when you switch off! Also howard, mind sharing the scoop on not running the timer for more than a minute and a half!

You have to set up the timer (programme it?) then before switching off, you press a button (aux?) to set it up. In the good old days, timed aux to 85, 12volt constant, fused at 30amps to 86 and 87, 30 to ign. The 11/2 mins maximum is for the hot oil to drain out of the turbo. Any longer will do damage to the turbo bearings. Recently I did a Con 650 Mkll, + intellistart to a MANUAL Audi RS4, 3.2 V6, twin turbos and chipped to 500bhp. Imagine the fun with R/S with a manual, so you have to do the safety start but before that you set up the turbo timer!

So to stop my tilt from setting off the alarm during remote starts on cold mornings, we ended up switch the tilt and glass break. The tilt sensor get disabled during the remote start.

My Ford f250 DVD clearly states to run the engine on for 2-3 minutes so i do not understand how this will damage the turbo.
