Trying to install a ct-3271 prostart in my truck. I finally got it to turn over, but it wont stay running. Couple of things I've done or haven't done, I didn't connect the tach wire, mostly because I don't really know where it goes, supposedly this starter has virtual tach and doesn't need it anyway, secondly I think the error is in the transponder I bought. I bought a ads-tbsl-pl, I programed it right for sure, got all the lights flashing when there suppose to flash. Two things I've noticed. One, the led in the trans ponder does not come on when the remote tries to start, secondly, the way I hooked up the transponder which is on the two vats wires, one wire is ground and the other is 12 volts, it says the voltage should be between 1 and 5 volts, also there is a pink wire coming from transponder that is supposed to go to ignition input, is this my pink ignition wire on my harness, finally does this starter support idatalink or not. Whewwww! any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my third day on this, Thanks

Are you sure you are using the correct install guide? You need guide 392 type 6 wiring. It doesn't connect to any Vats wires at all, just data from the OBD2 connector. Yes, the pink goes to the pink ignition wire. I would suggest NOT using data between your RS and the Idatalink. It's very unreliable and it's only 3 wires to connect. Change it to hardwire to omit that being your issue... ------------- Mike M2

If your using D2D you hav eto change an option on the CT CPU to accommodate iDatalink protocol. If your using W2W, then make sure that you have the iDatalink module on W2W mode and not D2D mode when you initially insert the power harness.

Mike, you are the best!!! I can't believe I spent all this time on this, I didn't know there were different types, I thought you could wire it any of those ways(stupid me) Anyway, I did what you said(wired it type 6)and it started right up. I also hard wired it(no datalink),so the blue and white wire and the black wire both go to ground(frame) and the tach still doesn't need to be connected. Is that right? Thank you so much for your help, you really made my weekend!!

Thanks Jeff, I got it to work by hardwiring it, I don't think I'm going to mess around with it any more

The blue/white will work grounded but will hold the module on all the time and may cause a battery draw. It should go to the staus wire on your RS(the wire that shows a ground out whenever the Rs is activated). Oh, and your welcome :) ------------- Mike M2

Hey mike, your right again, it is holding the module on all the time and there is a draw, not sure how much. I can't seem to find a status wire or ground on my RS I don't have the harness for all the locks and things plug in, is this where that wire would be, otherwise I don't have a clue where to put that wire
