I am looking for the tach wire on a 2004 silverado.

I have the following wiring information, but I would like to know if the instrument cluster has to be removed to get to this wire or can it be found lower in the dash. I looked at the PCM under the hood and I found two plugs that are removed with a center bolt. I removed one bolt and the entire plug comes out. An option would be to take the cover off of one of these two plugs and try to find a green plug pin 10. I am not sure how the cover comes off or if I am at the correct module. I am wondering if the simplest way is going to an ignition coils or injectors.

I would like to do the tach wire under the dash if it isnt too difficult.

Wiring Information
Tachometer white ac instrument cluster, pin A5 or PCM
Notes: The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is in the left front of the engine compartment to the left of the fan shroud. The tach wire is in the green plug, pin 10.

Remove the 4 x 7 mm bolts holding the instrument cluster onto the dash and there is only 1 WHITE wire in the back of the cluster. Its an easy installation and easy to get to.

It's easier to grab this wire inside the car and the cluster doesn't have to come out. To the left of the cluster is a piece of plastic that houses the vent, headlight switch, and some other electronics. You can remove the housing by pulling it straight at you. Once it is removed you can see the harness going to the cluster (it should have two pieces of grey tape on it). The only white wire in the harness is the tach.

I found it. I took the cluster out just to be sure I had the right one. This is way easier than going under the hood.

Is there an easier way to get the unlock, lock and factory alarm disarm without going into the door panel?

Use a module. Datalink, Fortin, or Trilogix.

you can also use an XK01, or GMDLBP module from XpressKit.
