2001 suburban
Audiovox APS 997A
A few questions.

1.     Do I need a bypass module? The reason I ask is that the audiovox Prestige aps 997a has a built-in remote start. The tach-wire is already installed in the unit. I also installed the starter inhibit relay.   Ran the tach wire etc.. There is a plug-in port for a bypass module, and the plug with wires that came with the unit.Im not sure if a bypass module is needed or not?

2.     4 pin auxiliary output harness. Where to tie them in door lock circuit or door pin trigger. ? This is what they do : Pulsed ground output after start . 300ma. Used to re-lock doors after start.   Also there is another wire Pulsed ground output after shutdown, 300ma. Used to relock doors after if doors unlock automatically when the ignition circuit transitions to off.

3.     Does the factory disarm wire need a diode? Also part of the 4 pin auxillary harness. Function: disarms factory theft deterrent system.

I did search the boards first, but still was not sure. only because I was looking at a 997a installed in a Honda.

Yes you need a bypass module.

1- yes you need a module to bypass the antitheft.

2- the 4 pin harness won't be used. Your doors shouldn't unlock during RS so it won't matter.

3- Again, won't matter. If you have a factory alarm on this truck it can stay armed during RS with no side effects.

1. Yes. Audiovox AS-GM4, DEI 555L or 555LW.

2. BLACK/ blue "pulse before start" should be connected to the Suburban's light green factory alarm disarm wire at the BCM.

BLACK/ green "pulse after start" and BLACK / YELLOW "pulse during crank" do not need to be connected to anything.

BLACK/ gred "pulse after shutdown" can be connected to the Suburban's driver's doorpin wire at the BCM to shut the car's radio off after the remote starter times out.

The BLACK/ red is an optional connection, because even if you don't connect it, the car's radio will turn off after a little while anyway.

3. No. Straight connection to the car's disarm wire.

I was going to get this unit bypass “Audiovox FLTB1 Data Transponder Override” with no tach-wire because the Audiovox has a tach-wire that I connected already.   It comes with a plug in port to Audiovox 997a unit. It seems like it connects up just like the Omega DB-Pass-23-A which I don’t think Omega makes anymore. I'm sure now I won't get this bypass from Amazon. only because It's 2 weeks delivery time... might as well be next year.

I’ll stick with your recommendations . Audiovox AS-GM4, DEI 555L or 555LW. Im sure some shop around has them in stock.

Chris, about item number 3, (No. Straight connection to the car's disarm wire)    Your talking about the black\red trace wire correct? And this wire gets connected to the driver’s door pin right?   Do I Diode this wire?

I did solder in black\blue trace wire to pulse to the factory disarm wire. Does this get a diode? I could de-solder this if it does.

Thanks for all your help Chris.
