Hello,
I wired everthing up. All soldered and heat shrunk cleanly. I have all the proper tools, although I am a beginner.... albeit a capable one.
-I have an Orange wire that the instructions say becomes a grounded 500ma output when armed. I am trying to use it for the ignition cut relay as stated by the instruction manual. For some reason it is not tripping the relay. When I send #85 on the relay straight to ground with a jumper wire it trips the relay. I suspect that the alarm brain may be defective, either by my hands or the manufacturers.
#30 is going to ignition side of the ignition/starter wire...
#87a is going to the other side of the cut ignition/starter wire...
#85 is going to the orange wire 500ma grounded when armed,,,,
#86 is going to the hot ignition source (crank/run)
I Installed a diode like the instructions said between #85 & #86 on the relay. I NOW know that the purpose of this is to stop current flow back through the orange wire but I did not know what its purpose was originally. I had it installed backwards!
Is it possible that this ruined the brain? When I hook up my volt meter to the orange wire and try to do a continuity test to ground, It does not make continuity when I arm the alarm. So the orange wire doesent seem to be working.
What do yall think?
Well no continuity to ground while armed then it's obviously defective.

A DMM is a beautiful thing.

Thats what Im thinking also.... Do you think that not having the diode or not having it installed the correct way would cause it to burn out? There are still many other features functioning with the brain.
im seen the installation manual and i see a diode accros the relay thay have the orange hooked up to #86 the #85 goes to true ignitions, the diode is the cathode (the stripe) going to 85 the other end to #86 this must help, if not maybe the output of the alarms is dead, test it with a meter of digital probe to see if u get a negative when the alarm arms.

Yeah, Thats what I did.... I checked continuity to ground wih my DVM and it doesent seem to be sending out a ground while armed signal. I think I am going to send the brain in to autopage and see if they can repair or replace it for me.
