Hello I was hoping for some input on relatively inexpensive one button remote starters. I just installed a python responder one in my GF's truck and the range is real good (350ish yards) with obstacles but a little $ for my cherokee so the options I have found so far are

Avitial 4113-Good company good price (50ish) but no range listed
Autostart AS-2272 Nice range listed good company hard to find for sale
Astrostart 711XR same Austostart above
Prestige 901 good range listed, good price but don't know much about audiovox good or bad

Please feel free to add other options these are just the ones I found under $100 and please share any experiences with any of them

thanks

I really like the Valet 561R (I believe thats the number).

Its made by DEI and comes with 2 3 button remotes.  I have one on my wifes car and I've been very happy with it.  Great range, very reliable.

Avital and Audiovox (prestige line) make excellent products, DEI who manufactures avital along with the one mentioned by KP are higher in quality than audiovox im my personal view! I would go with the avital 4113, don't know much about the other brands!

If the Cherokee has power door locks, a R/S with keyless isn't that much more than a one button R/S.

Take a close look at the Ultra Start models.  They are good quality, have basic but nice features that are easy to program without special equipment, have excellent range, and are inexpensive.  Right now on EBay there are a couple reputable dealers auctioning brand new "in the box" units for around $35.  (The G11-XR unit has a range of 1500 feet and comes with 2 four button remotes.)  Here is the Ultra Start web site : https://www.ultrastarters.com/products2.html

I'm partial to Audiovox, but just because that's what I use.

The APS-901 is a very reliable and installer-friendly unit. It claims 1000' of range, which is surely an exaggeration just like other brands, but I've never had customers complain about the range.

You said you're on a budget, but look at the slightly more expensive APS-921. It has a two-way remote, but also a claimed range of 1400' which is a little more than the 901.

The only downside to Audiovox is that their install guides are the worst I have ever seen.

Al are respected brands, though I agree with KP ref. the 561R

Thanks to all for the replies, the Cherokee does not have power locks but if the 561R fob is small enough to fit in pants pockets I'm still game. Thanks for the heads up on APS-921 I didn't know a 2-way was down that low
a couple more questions
opinions on the ultrastart units?
Does anybody here buy from lessco electronics?

Thanks

I have purchased a lot of items thru lessco electronics, some directly from their WEB site and others thru EBay.  They ship fast and I have never had any issues with the products.  Its a good way to try a new item from a different company without buying in bulk.  ( I switched to IDatalink bypasses that way. )

I have installed many of the new Ultra Start units the last couple of years.  1250, 1270, 1272, 1280, and some G11 series.  The time length adjustable horn output is nice, as is the windshield mount antenna with the flashing LEDs and the Pit Stop function is handy.  Their manuals are easy to follow, the option programming is straight forward and I've never had one come back.

Sometimes it all comes down to what you feel comfortable with, or the features, or the style of the remote.......  All of the major brands are good.

im partial to audiovox as im a dealer, but their remote is smaller than the 561r from dei, and they have great range, excellent reliability( in last 4 yrs ive had no warranties)easy to install and very good product

Avitals after they fixed the antennas are a good choice for something bare bones, and you can even get the doors to unlock while its remote started with the 1 button. Range is 1000' for that one by the way...

Audiovox products are nice as well, but my last, an APS 786 I think, started to fubar after 2 years...

Audiovox do make good products, but their durablity is overshadowed by DEI, in my opinion!
