Thanks for taking the time to read this - if you're able to help I would greatly appreciate it. I purchased a Viper 5501 and a Bypasskits XK05 flashed with PKH4 (Honda) firmware to install my in 2006 Civic EX coupe /w automatic. I did a lot of research online and spent a lot of time lurking in the12volt forums but I'm obviously doing something wrong :)

I was hoping to use the D2D to reduce the number of wires in this install. Here is how I have things connected:

H1 harness
-----------
Red (pin2) -> white on the ignition harness (12v+ constant)
Black (pin5) -> grounded on the chassis
White (pin11) -> red above the fuse panel in the MICU (Parking Lights +)

Here's a picture of the red wire where I connected the white wire from the h1 harness

I have the Viper 5501 connected to the bypass with the D2D cable. The violet wire of the bypass is connected to the light green data wire (pin3 of the white 7 pin connector on the key cylinder)

Here are the install instructions for the bypass I'm using

When I try to remote start the car does nothing and I can hear 7 clicks from the 5501. At the time I knew I had to put the 5501 in automatic transmission mode since it defaults to manual - but I couldn't program the 5501.

The manual says that the car should flash the lights and honk error codes but I only hear clicks from the 5501. I wasn't expecting to hear the horn - but I did hook up the parking lights. Since they're not flashing I'm guessing my real problem is that my wiring is wrong? Will the 5501 not even program if the parking light wire is messed up?

Is my original plan sound - power, ground, parking lights to the 5501 -> D2D -> XK05 /w PKH4 firmware -> one wire to the ignition data cable?

Just in case it helps someone else out through searching - I basically had this install all wrong. You absolutely do need to use wires from your H2/H3 harnesses for proper functionality. I thought this was going to be a 4-5 wire install but there is no such thing :)

To recap, the Viper 5501 the Bypasskits XK05 with PKH4 firmware works great on my 2006 Civic automatic. I bought it from Toby Broadfield (toby.broadfield at comcast.net) and got a great price on it. He also give me a couple pointers when I wasn't sure what the hell I was doing. I'm not a paid referral - just very happy with how helpful Toby was. He even flashed the XK05 with the PKH4 firmware I needed for free.
