Hi, I'm currently installing a viper 791xv with remote start, now the car currently does not have an engine as it is in bits. I would like to make sure all the wiring is correct before I tape it all up. So what I was wondering is can I somehow test it. I have the fog demister and heater hooked up to the alarm module. Am I out of luck? Thanks

You can use a volt meter to verify that the start wire gets voltage for a brief time when a remote start attempt is made. But that will not tell you for sure that it is working. There are things that you can not check without an engine. Immobiliser issues, tach issues key sense issues, Etc. It would help a lot if we knew what kind of vehicle you had.

It's a mid 1980s vehicle. It's australian made so you wouldn't be familar with the vehicle. It originally had a carby on it but have since converted it to fuel injection. It's basic, no complicated electronics etc. I guess if I could somehow simulate a tach single that would work?

Following on from what Mr. I says all you would be doing is repeating some of the many batch or individual tests a competent company like DEI, Compustar or Audiovox would do anyway! There's no point in your exercise, you're wasting your time!

im sure dei, compustar, etc all bench their units prior to shipping them out. So as howie said, its not worth the time to wire it up and test. Just wire it up to a car and see if it starts.
