I am new to remote starts, but have been installing stereos and some alarms for quite a while. I have a customer with a 2009 ford flex. They already have an IKT (integrated key head transmitter) and do NOT want another fob to remote start the car. They also do NOT want another aftermarket alarm system as they are satisfied with the factory keyless entry/alarm system. The only thing I have found so far is the DEI Avatal 4003 with a PKFM PATS bypass. Is this the only option out there for this specific application? I have looked at the installation manual for the avatal and have the wiring diagrams from here as well as the complete wiring diagram for the car from Ford. How difficult is this going to be? Everyone is looking for work in this economy and I'd hate to lose a job, but I'd hate even more to have to pay for someone else to come behind me if I screw something up. Plus, the bad experience wouldn't be good for business.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
you can get remote start addons, but the range is limited to factory, which is 80ft at the most. Try getting them to take out the factory remotes and change it with a 2way OR slim one way remote start system. If your lookin for something not too expensive and best bang for the buck IMO, i would go compustar pro 1wams.
Explain to them the factory range will suck, and the IKT may not work to unlock the doors once the car has been remote started. I don't know if that is the case on the Flex, but it is for a lot of cars.
Google the Compustar RF-1BAM for a low cost option. Adds a small remote to their keychain, they will use the original IKT for most functions. If the original IKT won't unlock the doors once the car is remote started, you can have the RF-1BAM unlock the doors.
Many different companies make a bypass module that will integrate with the transponder key. I prefer
