I can't get this stupid DEI 555h to program properly. The car remote starts fine if I stick the key in the ignition but once I remove the key it just cranks and doesn't start.

I'm giving up on trying to get the 555h to work and would rather a bypass that I had to give up a key as long as it's much easier to program. Which universal bypass with work on my 02 Honda Odyssey?

I've installed a DEI 556U in another vehicle and it worked without any issues. Would that module work on the Odyssey?

make sure the 555h is getting a ground when running signal from the brain. Take the blue status wire and hold it to ground, try remote starting it. but also make sure your DATA wire when cut, you connected the BLACK / YELLOW towards the transponder ring, and the YELLOW towards the engine bay.

Tedmond, I've verified the correct wiring and tried grounding the blue status wire but it's still not starting with the bypass but it starts right up when I leave the key in the ignition so it's definitely an issue with the bypass.

Do I have any other options besides this module?

for now, its either you get a new bypass, but im sure the one you have is perfectly fine. i rarely see bypasses go bad.

i know you have checked the wiring and im sure it does make sense when you look at it. But you have to  make sure the data GREEN/ BLUE pin 2 from the transponder ring has been cut AND to make sure the wires from the bypass are going to the proper sides.

also you might be programming it wrong.

1) leave the key in the ignition
2) press the start button on your remote (notice your bypass module)
3) the red LED on the bypass will light up (entering program mode)
4) once the car fully starts up, the light will turn off (finished program mode)
5) step on brake to stop remote start, and remove the key away from the ignition
6) remote start the car again and if it starts the bypass is programmed properly.

give that a shot, ill try to help you with this before xmas hits. cheers!
