Hey all,
I have a few questions about a Viper 5101 Remote start that I am installing on my old man's Tahoe for Christmas. I just want to make sure I have things in order so that when I "borrow it" for the day I can get the install complete and keep it a surprise.
First of all, I believe i need a basic Bypass kit as the vehicle has GM's PASSLOCK II system. I was sold a iDatalink Blade-AL module when I bought the 5101 RS. This unit is just a little flash card with a small wiring harness. I cant figure out where this is meant to install? It seems it would plug right into either 1) the remote start module or 2? the vehicles ECM??
Is this the correct unit or should it have been something else? this is the first time I've had to deal with installing a bypass.
As far as wiring, I think I've got that figured out, but I did want to know if his factory keyless entry would continue to work after I install this system so that he wont have a clue its there until he gets the fob's on Christmas day??

a Blade module will not plug into a DEI product..... you should have a ADS-TB for PLII only....

can someone explain to me the difference between the ads-tb and the ads-dl on the Idatalink.com site? both seem to have the same purpose... I will take this Blade module back and change it for the proper piece of equipment.

idatalink blade modules are meant for compustar pro CM5xxx series modules. ads-tb is your basic bypass, and the ads-dl is a bypass with door lock interface and tach output.
