With the DEI product line up and python 991 for example. Is there any difference(technical or otherwise) between the using the (-) 200mA ignition1 output OR the (-) 200mA status output when interfacing to a bypass module's (-) trigger input? The DEI literature says that the "status" ouput goes low when the remote start sequence is initiated. I am wonder if "status" goes low earlier than igition1 output and thus would give the bypass module a slight heads up advantage.

If there is no technical advantage what is the prevailing practice. Do most folks use ignition1 or status output when interfacing with the bypass module's trigger input?

Generally, I use the status. It activates immediately upon reception of the remote start signal from the transmitter, whereas the ignition 3 (-) is active at the same times as the pink ignition 1 and pink/white flex relay (if programmed as an ignition). Sometimes the bypass has to disarm the factory alarm as well, which is definitely good to do before ignition to avoid horn honking.

I think though that some Bypasskit pieces for Chrysler products (like the XK532, IIRC) would be better with the ignition 3 (-), since they have a tech note saying that the bypass should come on at the same time as ignition.

Again, though, in every other install I do with DEI product I use the status output for the GWR input to the bypass.
