Hi all

I'm currently using 791xv and was thinking of changing it to 5902. Can anyone advise me on the installation? Would it be easy to replace if I already know the wiring for 791xv? Would I need anything else? Hope anyone can help.

If you're familiar with the 791xv and viper remote starts in general, should be an easy swap!

download the installation manual/schematic, take your new unit, and just trace out each wire. remove old one from 791xv and replace with 5902. Its just a matter of tracing your own wires. If you can do that, replacement should be fairly quick.

Thanks for the reply. I did some research and found that 5901 and 5902 share the same brain. Their only difference is the color remote. Can anyone enlighten me on this? If so, wouldn't it be better to get the 5901 with an additional 7941v color remote?

Does anyone have the brain diagram for 5901 or 5902? I would like to trace the wires on paper first. Thanks in advance.

wouldnt make sense considering buying an aftermarket remote is as much as the unit itself.

You can easily find the color remote for about 150. The 5901 would cost about 220 while the 5902 cost about 380. You'll get another additional LCD remote if you'd buy them separately. That's what I found out ...

Hi all

I finally gotten the new 5901 and I'm planning to have it installed in my Honda FRV. I'm currently using the 791xv and I trace the wires of the existing setup with the 5901. I have copied down all the wires that are currently in use with the 791xv and I'm identifying them with the 5901 wires. Can someone please help me if I'm doing the right? Also, the Tachometer threshold was set high and light flash polarity postive for the 791xv. Please kindly enlighten me what are the necessary things that i need to do after the connection below. Thanks in advance!

Yes just as you have it (assuming all the original connections are sound and the previous starter was working you should be fine), leave the tach settings on the new unit as is, don't forget to learn the tach!

I've hooked up everything and everything worked perfect. Thanks!

There was a mini fuse inside the box and I didn't hook it up.  Do I need to set both the parking light jumper and hook up the mini fuse to positive polarity if last 791xv setting was positive?

the mini fuse is for the parking lights. set the same polarity as the previous setup.
