hello,

I'm doing my first alarm install. It's a Prestige APS-997 with remote start. I got the alarm installed pretty basically so far. It works the door locks, has shock sensor, flashes lights, hood switch, siren, horn, door switch, brake switch. But I'm not able to get the remote start completed. First off, I hooked up all the "large wires" in the 6 pin harness on the alarm module. However, the alarm called for "ignition 2" but I don't know what it means. My wiring diagram for my truck shows only "ignition 1". So I connected "ignition 2" to the same as "ignition 1". Is this the thing to do? I also didnt install the "4 pin alternate ignition harness" as I didnt think it wasnecessary for my car. My van has a 5.4L V8 with 8 coil packs, so I don't know how to hook up the "tach" wire. Could someone give me a run-down on this vehicke for installing the remote start for this alarm? Thanks

Steve

Don't do what you did with the ignition switch

the ignition 2 wire coming from the remote start harness you will connect to accessory 2 wire in the car, and then in the settings menu you will change feature selection 7 and change it to "same as accessory"

obviously red and RED / white go to 12 volts

purple will go to acc 1

blue goes to ign 1

yellow will go to starter wire

green will go to acc 2

Thanks...

I will make the change. Do you know which one is Accy2?

Also, what do i do about the tach?

acc is BLACK/ green at the ignition switch

you can get the tach in the engine compartment at the PCM it is on the firewall kind of near the brake fluid resevoir it is WHITE/ pink

Thanks again...you're awesome!

So I followed your instructions and moved the green to the accy2 (BLACK/ green) and adjusted the 7th menu to the "same as accessory" option. I also put the tach on the WHITE/ pink on my pcm. Still, though, when i double click the key/trunk button, my LCD transmitter vibrates at me and the parking lights flash several times, but nothing else happens. No start.

did you install a bypass module to bypass the factory immobilizer upon remote start , several companies make them including Idatalink, DEI, fortin

If you did then how was it wired up to the car, you will need 2 keys to program the bypass to this truck

If everything is good, what happens when you remote start it, does anything happen or does it do nothing, do the parklights flash at all??

My truck is a fleet van and doesn't use a secure key. I was told I don't need a module for that. When I remote start it, the parking lights flash several times and my transmitter vibrates.

Do I need to use the Alternate wiring harness (4 pin one)? for the remote start? Also, do i need to wire up the key sensing circuit?

if the parking lights flash, check in your book under diagnostics and see whats preventing it from starting.

Ok! That did it. Thanks. Apparently I hadn't yet programmed the Tach. Now it starts beautifully. Now if i could only figure out how to program it to arm and disarm silently. Also, I can't find the "all door trigger" wire blk/light blue in the kick panel. So now, only the ddriver door activates the alarm.
