My car does not use a 2nd ignition wire, but requires a 2nd accessory. Can I use the 2nd ignition to wire it up to the 2nd accessory, instead of doing a relay?

On most cars...(you didnt put which car you have) It is usually only necessary to hook up 1 Acc...While the other Acc. is for radio...dash...etc...Although on some vehicles it IS required to power up the Acc's...! So w/o knowing the vehicle...Cant give you a clear answer...!

03 Murano. I actually wired up to one accessory, and everything works (radio , dash lights) but no fan blowing. So I suspect second wire is for the fan.

Was planning to hook the unused 2nd ignition wire from alarm unit to car's 2nd accessory wire. Is this safe?

You didn't put what kind of car, or what kind of remote starter.

But, most remote starters have a programming option for the Ignition 2 output, usually called "off during crank" or "as accessory."

If you have one of those programming options, then yes, you can use the Ignition 2 output as an Accessory 2 output instead.

Just unhook it from the current acc wire and hook it up to the one that controls the fan.

No need for dash lights or radio when not in the car........

Don't think mine can do this . Its the Audiovox APS 901N - just starter.

Tried this...the fan would died down after a minute. Weird...like it needs two of these accessory wires to be on. I can do a relay which always put the 2nd accessory on when starter on or just connect 2nd ignition, which is the same concept?

PINK/WHITE Wire: Ignition 2 Output

Connect this wire to the ignition 2 wire from the ignition switch. This wire will show + 12 volts when the ignition

key is turned to the "ON" or "RUN" position and is some cases the "START" or CRANK" position. This wire

will show 0 volts when the key is turned to the "OFF" and "ACCESSORY" positions.

NOTE: See programming information concerning this wire to allow output during the "START" mode.

on audiovox if you look in the instructions it will tell you under programming menu ign2 on during crank, or same as starter1, same as acc, it is programmable just hook it to your 2nd acc wire and change programming to make it an accessory

Don't think there's a pink/white wire for the APS 901. I believe green is the ignition 2 wire. I still don't see why cannot connect alarm's ignition 2nd(unused) to car's 2nd accessory(required) directly? In theory should work correct?

I never program an audiovox before. Will give it go tomorrow. So I want it to be OFF for Ign. 2 During Crank correct? Thanks all for help.

If it were a Code Alarm branded piece, the associated would be pink/white as Tommy was mentioning.

With the Prestige and Pursuit brands, it's a thick green wire as you described.

And yes, go into the second bank of featuers, where you have your runtime, tach/voltage and all those settings, and set Ignition 2 to "off during crank," and it will behave just like the purple accessory output.

What kind of car is this going into, anyway?

03 Murano. Everything is working, except the 2nd accessory - thus no heat =(

I mentioned in an earlier post the difference... Ignition stays powered up during crank...Accessory does not...It drops voltage...Just to clear that up for ya...!
