Hello, I have a very strange problem with an S10 I recently completed. An Avital 5303 was the system that went in and during testing I noticed that if the truck was running; I had no control of the system.
No locking, unlocking, and can't shut off the remote start. Step on the brake and it all comes back to life.
So here are some of the fixes I tried: turning off the code hopping, changing out the brain and antenna, hung the antenna out side of the truck, and even when I unplugged everything except for 12v and ground, when the motor is running (via the key in the ignition) I still could not get the remote to talk to the alarm. As soon as I shut the motor off, I get full communication again.
I have been installing alarms for over twelve years and have never seen this problem; my only last thought is that the truck produces some sort of frequency that is around the same band when the engine is running. I thank you guys in advance for any help you can think of

Where ever there is a problem there is opportunity.
The 5113's had a recall for the antenna's for cars losing control and starting on their own. I wonder if your antenna could be bad?
That issue sounds like there is something in the vehicle that is interfering. That happened to us and the only thing i recommend is disconnecting fuses that are tied to the ignition. One of those fuses will shut off whatever is interfering with the system.
Hey, thanks you guys for the input. I'll try those suggestions and post soon to give an update.

I put this same exact unit into my girlfriends 2000 s10 blazer with no issues whatsoever. And the antennas on these are different than the 4113's
