Almost all systems use negative pulse outputs to control door locking and unlocking. Your 04 Mazda 3 requires a negative pulse through a 1K ohm resistor to lock and a straight negative to unlock. However, if memory serves me right, you can just use the factory alarm arm and disarm wires and these will lock and unlock the doors as well. I might be wrong, but to test it, find your arm and disarm wires (BLACK/ blue and BLACK/ white in the driver's kick panel...harness going into the door) and pulse each with ground, it may require two pulses to unlock the doors. I might be wrong but I kind of remember not having to use a resistor on the Mazda 3.

Update: I just read the installation manual for your system here. Your system appears to have internal relays for door locks. If you look at page 26 you would follow the diagram for "Multiplex Negative Return Circuit" with a 1K resistor inline for lock and no resistor for ground. But again I think you can use the arm/disarm wires instead of the resistor.

On another note...taking a look at the manual does not instill a whole lot of confidence in the quality of that system.

Yes, just connect the negative trigger lock and unlock wires to the arm and disarm wires! Works for me!

Unlock connected directly, you may need to use a relay to supply the ground via the resistor, as the on board resistance may hinder it from functioning!
