After installing and enjoying this system on my '02 Civic for several weeks, today it failed to disarm, and tripped the alarm. I had to cut the siren wire so I could get home without the obnoxious sounds.
The LED blinks 3 times, which appears to indicate a door entry problem. The audio from the remote beeps 10 short beeps. Doors will neither lock nor unlock anymore. I don't know what the 10 beeps indicate. What steps should I take to determine where the problem lies? Any suggestions are welcomed. (no fuses were blown)

Have you tried overriding the system with the valet switch?

It appears the override needs to be programmed in with a specific number of button presses, which I did not have done. Is there a default number of presses from the factory?

Hey Dan,

As Howie said, the "security code" for your valet should be 1 unless otherwise specified by your installer (or if you did the install, then you could have programmed a specified number up to "5" for your security code).

About the 10 beeps, I beleive that the system has activated NPC (nuisance prevention circuitry), so your remote is telling you that. There's a small possiblity of a faulty wire, or circuit which is continuously tripping the system. Since it's doing this, NPC automatically kicks in to bypass so that your system does not continuously arm itself.

Take a look at page number 22 for an explanation of "zone triggers" (you'll see how 10 quick beeps means that NPC is active); then take a look at page number 27 for an explanation of NPC.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Tony. I was unable to get the valet override to work, but I think that may have been since it was constantly in the tripped mode. I found the problem..... the small green wire (1 of 4) running to the antenna became disconnected at the connector to the viper unit. Soldered it up, reinserted, and everything works great now.
