Hello first time posting here... Got a little problem I purchased a 99 GMC Jimmy recently that came with an alarm installed but the person I bought the car from said the alarm never works since he bought it from someone else. He still had the remote witch is labeled: on the back APS2K4SAW so I did a little searching and I found the basic programming of this system was turn ignition on and press valet button 3 times untill you hear 1 chirp (Witch I did) then your supposed to press the lock key on the remote and hear another chirp (This I did not hear) I press the lock button, unlock the options buttons... I get nothing the alarm ends up chirping and the siren yelps for a second ..guessing this is just the alarm timming out. So I figured it was just a bad remote, ordered another one and still same problem I get nothing.... Now I figure it could be one of 2 things either this remote the APS2K4SAW doesnt work with this APS785 system? Afterall the person I bought it from said it never worked for him so maybe the original owner just bought a wrong replacement remote.. Maybe but I can't figure out what remote goes to this system. Or the whole system is bad I don't know i'm pretty lost, If anyone can put any insite on this that would be great, thanks.

Is the remote a 4 button? If so it should work. Is the antenna still intact? Make sure it is plugged in. Try unplugging the alarm and replugging it in. You may have to shut it off with the valet switch when you do this by turning key to on, then pressing valet once.

Audiovox installer here. Maybe I can help a little bit.
Is this what the remote looks like?

If so, it should be the right remote. Pretty much any 4-button Pursuit or Prestige or even some Code Alarm remotes should all work.
OK then:
1. Since you can get into programming (and yes, you did it right), I'll say your ground, constant power, and ignition connections must all be correct.
2. Since you're not getting the long chirp when you press "lock" on the remote, the unit is not seeing the remote for whatever reason.
Here are your possibilities: Bad antenna, bad antenna cable, bad brain, or bad remote. Just have to narrow it down.
The brains don't usually fail, but I've seen plenty of bad remotes, the occasional bad antenna, and some mangled antenna cables.
Any chance this SUV ever had a replacement windshield installed? The glass guys mess up the antenna cables sometimes.
Also, go to an Autozone. On the sales counter they have a display with the Energizer name, with remote batteries for sale. But also, there's a little remote tester there....use it to see if your remote is transmitting or not.
If the remote tests good, I'd inspect the length of the antenna cable, and look at where it plugs into both the brain and into the antenna on the windshield.

Thanks for the reply, I did a little more digging after you mentioned the antenna and followed the antenna wire from the contol module to.... no where the antenna must have been clipped off at sime point, or more so pulled off of the wire because there was copper exposed it wasnt a clean cut. So.... I'm not sure what to do now, do they sell just the antennas? Also while under the dash I noticed that the shock sensor was not blinking any lights even though I was bumping right against it, pulled the wire checked the RED / black wires with a volt meter and I got nothing, does this mean my control module is bad as well? Chris Luongo do you happen to know if there is a good replacment system for this paticular alarm, something that has pretty much the same wiring so that all I have to do is replace the main module and not re wire the whole system?

Probably someone replaced the windshield and cut into the cable by accident.
The most current version of the APS-785 would be the APS-787N. Nicer-looking remotes, a slightly smaller shock sensor, LED/valet switch are together as one unit instead of separate, but very similar overall.
I'm pretty sure an APS-785, 786, or 787, everything will all plug right in.
I could probably dig up an extra antenna and cable and send them to you for some small amount of money, but sometines I'm not as fast at getting around to going to the post office as I should be. I'll look through my extra stuff and see what I can find.
About the shock sensor, I don't know why, but I think on Audiovox systems the sensor doesn't get any power until the unit is armed.

I would suggest finding your nearest AVOX dealer and see if they have one. Here's an antenna that will work. Check with the guy, he may have a cable... https://cgi./Audiovox-Prestige-Auto-Remote-Starter-Antenna-Elvar8b_W0QQitemZ300352447076QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45ee66a264 ------------- Mike M2
