Thanks for the help, but for the tachometer wire under the remote start section above, what does "uncommon wire" at fuel injectors mean? Is this a typo? Does it mean the common positive wire for the fuel injectors? Or is there a better place to source the needed tachometer feed for the remote start? On the wiring diagram that came with my Compustar system, it says for that lead "Engine Sensing Input (Alt./Tach/Battery)" I'm installing a Compustar FT-6200S Controller or "Brain".

uncommon wire means at each injector, there will be similar colours for all of them. using the uncommon one or "differant" will work.

On this 2.0L engine, all four injectors have two wires each. They all share a common BLUE power wire, and what you are saying is that I need to tap into one of the other wires (injector 1 has a GRN/BLU, injector 2 has a GRN/YEL, injector 3 has a VIO/GRY, injector 4 has a YEL/ORG). So I tap into one of these 4 wires correct? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it guys! This is only my second remote starter install and I just want to make sure I do it right the first time around. I wouldn't be surprised if I have a few more questions for you guys this afternoon.

Thanks for the verification. One last wire to hookup and then I can start testing the remote starter out. My last wire is on the Bypass Module (in this case a Fortin Key-Override-SL2.) It's a BLUE wire that is supposed to be connected to a wire on the remote starter; and I don't know which one. The label for this wire is "(-) While Running" and it is a input to the bypass module. Here are my choices on the remote starter: 1) (-) 250mA 2nd starter output 2) (-) 250mA 2nd ignition output 3) (-) 250mA 2nd accessory output 4) (-) 250mA Status Out(GWR) 5) (-) 250mA Rearm output 6) (-) 250mA Disarm output 7) (-) 250mA Horn Output 8) (-) 250mA Aux1 Output By the way, I left a few out that in my mind there was no way it could be them. So the big question is, which one is it??

Wow, alright, one more thing to deal with. I believe I'm having a security system related issue, and I have an idea what it is. You should know I have the Compustar RF-1BAM-900SH remote fobs, which are just single button fobs. Anyway, I see on one of the option tables (Group 4), The 11th Feature is "Bypass through RS232 Port". The default setting is "ADS", and an optional setting is "Fortin". I want to set it to Fortin because that is the bypass module I have. And I believe this is why the factory security light is flashing when the remote starter attempts to start the car. My question is: How do I program options using a one-button fob? The manual that came with the Compustar 6200S Remote Start Controller gives you directions for fobs with multiple buttons but none for my fob. And the manual that came with the remote fobs makes no mention of how to program options. Does anybody have any idea of how to do this? Thanks guys!

you will only have to set it to fortin if you use the 4pin D2D connection. If you have everything else wired as wire to wire w2w, no need to go into programming to change the setting. if you really want to run d2d, which i wouldnt On the unit, if it says RS232 unlocked, then you can change it to fortin in the programming. if not, you need a compustar op500 programmer. ------------- Ted

Ah, so I don't need to install the 4pin wiring harness between the bypass module and remote start? Well, I will uninstall that small harness and if that isn't the reason for the factory security light flashing, I will try to reprogram the Key-Override-SL2... I'll post what I find out in a bit...

Okay well I beat the security light issue by running through the Fortin Key-Override-SL2 programming procedure. I did not bother to remove the 4 pin data link harness between the fortin bypass module and the Compustar remote starter, because it didn't seem to be hurting anything. And now the remote start works great! Except now, both of the car keys do not work! The vehicle can only be started with the remote starter fob. The security doesn't flash at all, in fact, when you turn the key in the ignition to crank the starter, nothing happens at all! What gives? And the funny thing is, the keys and the fobs worked earlier today! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Anybody have any thoughts?

It is possible that your car won't start with a key because the Fortin bypass is on and the car is seeing two keys at the same time. I would go completely to W2W mode. Remove the 4 pin datalink harness and just run +12volts and ground to the harness as per the instructions. Compustars come factory defaulted for IDatalink module communication and you have to program them over to Fortin mode. If you have an extra 4 button remote you could program it to your CM5000 temporalily and use it to change options... ------------- Soldering is fun!

This makes sense, thanks for the tip! I will try removing the 4 pin data harness and routing it to power and ground...

I have a quick question about this....it says the Alarm Disarm - OEM REMOTE ONLY, SEE TECH TIP......what exactly is the Tech Tip?

Date Posted: April 29, 2010 at 6:35 AM
on the newer subarus and evos, there is no way to disarm the alarm by sending a pulse to a specific wire on the car. This is probably similar to those 2 vehicles where the only ways to disarm the oem alarm is 1) buy a data module 2) transponder + ignition + keysense powered on at the same time will disarm the system. - this would prob be your tech tip ------------- Ted

Are you using the domelight wire for your door triggers? If so, read no further. But if your going to use all four door trigger wires, then your going to need a DTIMAZDA module. I had to get one for my 2010 Fusion with the same Normally closed circuit. Just a heads up so you'll be ready.

Ive got a quick question. I need to hook up the heater so that it comes on with the remote start. Which wire am I hooking up the one from the remote start to? The VIOLET/GREEN at the ignition switch? I was poking around behind the controls for the correct wire, but Im coming up blank. This is probably a really simple answer and Im hoping someone can give me a hand so Im not blowing fuses trying to find this. Thanks in advance!!

You need to have the heat or air conditioning set to the desired setting when you park it. That way, when it remote starts it will be where you last set it. IF, you have electronic controls for the climate, it is possible to wire them up to the defroster wire to automatically turn on the heat if the temp is below 50 degrees. Or you could wire to an auxillary channel for independent operation. Most people just preset before they leave the vehicle though.

Ya, Im going to just preset it before I leave the car. I just needed to know if i hook up the heater wire from the remote start to the purple-green wire at the ignition if this would accomplish that, or if i needed to search the correct wire behind the controls

Looks like it is Violet/Green wire ; according to the wiring diagram on page one of this post.

Anyone happen to know the horn wire and best location to tap into it? With the airbags now Im leary about poking into wires coming off the steering column if I can help it.

Depends on where you mounted the brain as to the best location to tap in. If you are near the steering column then I'd tap in there. I don't see it listed in the wiring diagram. I think it is blue/white. Take the cover off the steering column and look for a connector that looks like this; This is a Fusion connector. Focus should be similar. The horn wire on the Fusion is the bottom right blue/white. 2008 Focus is also this color. I'm not saying that it's definately what your looking for, but probable and a good place to test first. -------------

monty862 - Thanks for the picture. Its definitely where Im going to start my search. Sorry I didn't thank you earlier. I didnt get a topic reply notification, or I deleted it by accident somehow. Anyways, Thanks again! Im going to check it out either this week or weekend and I'll post back here. Maybe it can be added to the original wiring list.
