I recently installed a remote start in a 2006 Ford Escape. I didn't have the second programmed key at the time to program the security bypass. So now, a few weeks later, I have both programmed keys for the vehicle. I tried the process in the manual for programming another key and when I get to where you put the new key in the ignition, I try to start the car with the remote start. I have tried 5 or 6 times and everytime I get to the part involving the new key, I try to start with the remote start and the engine won't start. The security light just flashes rapidly. I am using the 1S4Z-19G365-AB. Are they picky as to where the wires have to be looped around the ignition? I'm assuming the gray wires (not the power and ground wires) need to be looped over the key cylinder. My security bypass didn't have instructions with it. I couldn't find any online except for how to wire the power and ground for it. This is the first time I've had to use a security bypass like this. Thanks for your help.

was the key cut and programmed by a locksmith? or was it a dealer cut/programmed key.

in order to program the bypass, you need two ORIGINAL keys, not one original and one cloned key.

a cloned key can start the car, but it wont program to the bypass.

I was afraid it might be the wrong security bypass module. This is why I don't like Fords. I am having ten times as much trouble trying to find '06 Ford Escape part numbers than I do looking for part numbers for my '90 Nissan 300ZX. And yes I do have two original dealership keys that I was trying to program the remote start with. Thanks for your help. I guess this is why you always have to double check before you buy things on Ebay.
