I am installing a Pro-start remote car starter 2300.  I wonder if this car needs a by pass transponder?

Pretty sure it does not need one. I think the transponder systems started a little later.

Bypasskit.com does not list anything for it. Audiovox does not list anything about transponder either. It does list factory alarm information though and you would need to tie into that for your installation.

Forget it, about 2 years too early. They weren't even required in Europe until 01/01/97 and only the Germans were installing them earlier. Mklll Golf and E36 were the earliest.
