i've installed a viper 5901 system on my 2002 impala with the xpress kit combo bypass interface. the system seems to work just fine, locks unlocks pops trunk arms and disarms. the remote start portion however will not work. the lights flash relays click and the dash turns on as it normally would when i would turn the key, but the pump doesnt wind up and car doesnt crank. the interface seems to be bypassing everything but the passlock start.   am i missing something?

Which bypass module are you using? Did you double check your connections? and are you using the data 2 data method?

just off of a whim i tried starting the car while the key was in position one...bygolly it started.   Even turned off. It will start in position 2 also but wont turn off. also the climate control doesnt turn on.   Thank you for reponding to the first issue, which i seem to make some progress on, but would you happen to also know how i can get the car to start without leaving the keys in the car?

If it works with the keys in the ignition but doesn't when removed, it is definitely a module issue. You never answered which module you are using?

sorry about that im using the DLPKGM. After following the programming instructions it immediately engaged all of the oem key fob functions as noted. I had checked the voltage at the green wire of the remote start and it is sending 12 volts to the starter, flashes, even turns on the dummy lights and battery light that comes on from a normal key start....but no start. Turn the key to position one and then engage the remote start from the viper remote and it operates just fine.

I'm assuming you're using the d2d connection? I'd be surprised if it makes a difference, but did you solder the data wire to the obd2 plug? If not it is worth a shot. If it doesn't work I would try reprogramming. If it still does not work, you might have to connect it w2w.

very cool, ill give that a try. im sure that i didnt solder those connections yet. i am using the d2d connection. im kinda juggling the idea that i might have my ignition wire from the module on the wrong ignition wire. thanks...ill try that and let you know what i get.

it shouldn't matter if you solder the connection or not just for testing purposes, though i still would solder it for the long run. not having it soldered wont throw off the reading.

my guess is you still need to program the bypass module to bypass the anti theft. some of the dei modules need to be programed twice. once for all of the convenience like door locks and trunk pop and another time for antiteft.

it is also possible that you missed an ignition wire. you need to hook up all ignition wires and acc wires except for the brown wire for remote start. the brown wire sends power to the ac circuit and other things so it would be good to hook that up too but not necessary.

try remote starting it with just the key in the ignition cylinder not turned to anything. if it starts then you have a bypass problem, if it doesn't start then you probably missed an important wire.

and also you should make sure you dont need to download any new firmware for that bypass to work on your vehicle.

if you have to turn the key at all for it to R/S you are missing a required IGN or ACC wire..... it wont be a bypass issue it it starts fine with the key in "pos 1"...
